Website frustration

I am a artist, I communicate with and understand the world visually. I can read maps well and can remember landmarks but can’t remember street names. With that in mind there is one reason and one reason only that I stopped building websites and that is the coding.

I really hate to code. From anything like java to php I just don’t understand it and it gives me a headache. Most of the java and php I have used in the past were a long arduous experiment in trial and error. In that past all I really had to worry about was css and html and both are very simple. Flash was also around then but just like php and the such I couldn’t get it to work well, the most I could do was make flash videos. But considering what state flash is in now it seems like not investing in it more was for the best.

Even with this blog the php editing was a pain.

Once in a Lifetime

This year in New York fall has for some reason been unusually warm so much so that just now are leaves starting to turn colors and fall from trees and flowers planted seasons ago are still alive.

The strange thing is that in October among all this warmth we received a bit of snow. It was a surreal sight to see flowers in full bloom covered with snow on them so I took the opportunity and with my crappy camera took whatever shots I could.

Art Related

When deciding to add a blog to my portfolio website I realized I should be more selective on what I decide to talk about. Basically I thought I should try and keep it art related. While art isn’t something I can really blog about everyday for now I think it would be for the best.

About that, I was considering occasionally posting about the hobby work and such that I do. When not painting or doing graphic work I like to stay busy art wise with models and such. While I am painting, modifying, and even at times sculpting parts of them it still feels a little strange to post images of them. Maybe as I start focusing my paintings a bit more on interests of mine it will fit right in.

None of these are mine but take a look at them, if they aren’t art I don’t know what is

First Post

Finally got around to building a new website. I have been procrastinating with doing this over and over again but managed to complete it. I used to have two sites at this address. One a small portfolio site that I never manged to finish outside of the gallery and a anime inspired blog that I HEAVILY altered a vbulletin script to make.

The environment of website building has really changed since then. I remember going from the time where almost all sites used frames, which a few of my first few sites used as well. To an overabundance of graphics added to sites when everyone started getting broadband. It then moved to minimalist slimmed down sites and the emergence of RSS. I never really cared to use RSS myself so I didn’t design sites for it which came back to bite me. I just don’t like to look at the contents of a site in a boring text format instead of the way it was originally designed to look on the website.

With this new site I discovered that the new thing to keep in mind when designing was IOS devices. One would think unless specially coded in a special way sites would just retain their size and dimensions on a mobile device. Instead I had to alter most pages so that they wouldn’t break or look awkward. Even with this directing the design I really like the final result.
